“When I sat on the shelf in the shop day after day, week after week, and month after month, all on my own I thought there must be something wrong with me. No one wanted to take me home with them, no one loved me, no one seemed to care.”
“Even after grot boy and grot girl rescued me and took me home, gave me lots of cuddles and told me I was now part of their family and belonged with them I kept wondering; was I good enough for them?”
Grot boy explained, “When you were no longer in the shop window, waving at the people as they went past, smiling and looking cute, people didn’t stop and go in and buy things, so they had to close. Lots of people had wanted to take you home before we did but the shop owner wouldn’t let them. She was worried no one would ever come into the shop again if you weren’t there. But grot girl persuaded her and insisted you needed a proper home. It’s possible that grot girl said something about negligence and welfare but I’m not sure. I was outside waiting for you both.
